On Sunday morning, an Auburn man was arrested by the Auburn Police Department following a burglary investigation on Clark Street.

Raymond Portuondo Jr. was taken into custody after officers responded to a burglary complaint. Upon arrival, police discovered that the suspect had fled the scene on foot. According to authorities, the investigation revealed that Portuondo Jr. allegedly kicked in the door of a residence and damaged property inside.

After initial attempts to contact him at his residence were unsuccessful, the victim called the police later that morning to report that Portuondo Jr. was walking near the residence. Officers immediately responded to the area and took him into custody without incident.

Portuondo Jr. was charged with Burglary in the Second Degree and two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree.

Following the investigation, he was transported to the Cayuga County Jail for arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
