Yates County Offers Free Workplace Safety and Narcan Training

An FLX Valley instructor leads a diverse group in a community safety training workshop, including overdose response.

Yates County Public Health is offering free training sessions to help local employers and workers prepare for new state workplace Narcan requirements.

The one-hour sessions will cover overdose response, concussion awareness, fall prevention, and basic workplace safety. Participants will also receive free Narcan, a nasal spray used to reverse an opioid overdose.

Training sessions are scheduled for July 29 and August 25 at the Yates County Office Building Auditorium in Penn Yan. A third session will be held September 24 at Our Town Rocks in Dundee.

The training comes ahead of an update to New York State Labor Regulation Section 27-F, which is scheduled to take effect on December 12.

The Yates County Chamber of Commerce is also serving as a Narcan distribution site. Businesses may pick up free Narcan nasal spray at the Chamber office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Each kit contains two single-dose devices and instructions for administering the medication.
