Two motorcyclists were seriously injured Saturday evening after a police pursuit ended in a crash near the Yates-Ontario county line.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to stop two motorcycles traveling northbound on State Route 14 in the Town of Torrey at approximately 5:15 p.m. The operators, identified as 31-year-old Trea Salisbury and 45-year-old John Chordas Jr., both of Binghamton, allegedly failed to comply and attempted to evade deputies.
Authorities said the pursuit continued into Ontario County, where the motorcycles collided with an uninvolved sedan traveling southbound on Route 14 near the county line.
The occupants of the sedan were not injured.
Both motorcyclists sustained serious injuries and were flown by helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital. Deputies said the injuries are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.
