A young stray cat is settling into a new home after being rescued with the help of the Seneca Falls Police Department.

According to a social media post from the department, Sgt. Kidd responded to an apartment complex after several juveniles reported that a kitten had become trapped inside a maintenance building.

Police said the children were concerned for the animal’s safety and contacted authorities for assistance.

Sgt. Kidd was able to safely rescue the cat from the building. Following the rescue, the kitten found a permanent home when the family of one of the callers agreed to adopt it.

The police department praised the children for their compassion and willingness to seek help for the trapped animal.

“Bravo to the children who cared and called for assistance,” the department said in its post, adding that it hopes the cat settles in quickly with its new family.

The successful rescue turned a potentially dangerous situation into a happy ending for both the cat and its new owners.
