A 19-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash in the Town of Hopewell.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 3:07 p.m. to the intersection of State Route 488 and Archer Road for a reported crash involving a motorcycle.
Investigators determined that 79-year-old Sue Sharpe, of Romulus, was traveling west on Route 488 and attempting to make a left turn into a residential driveway. Deputies said Sharpe failed to yield the right of way to an oncoming motorcycle being operated by 19-year-old Zachary Stone, of Lyons.
Stone, who was traveling east on Route 488, collided with Sharpe’s vehicle.
Stone was transported by Canandaigua Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Sharpe was evaluated at the scene and did not require transportation to a hospital.
Deputies issued Sharpe a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
A portion of State Route 488 was closed for approximately one hour while deputies investigated the crash.
