The Tompkins County Human Services Building in Ithaca has been closed to the public for the remainder of Wednesday because of an ongoing law enforcement matter.

County officials announced the closure affects the building at 320 W. Martin Luther King Jr./State Street. Residents are being asked not to come to the building for the rest of the day.

Despite the closure, county departments housed in the building are continuing to provide services to the extent possible.

Anyone needing assistance from the Department of Social Services, Probation, Parole, or Youth Services is encouraged to contact the appropriate department by email. Contact information is available on the Tompkins County website.

County officials said the incident does not affect any other Tompkins County buildings or departments.

No additional details about the law enforcement matter have been released. Tompkins County said more information will be provided when appropriate.
