A second suspect has been charged in connection with the July 7 stabbing of a juvenile in the Town of Seneca Falls that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.

The Seneca Falls Police Department announced Tuesday night that a 17-year-old male has been charged with first-degree assault. Because he is a juvenile, his name has not been released.

Police said the teen was taken into custody at the Seneca Falls Police Department and arraigned in Seneca County CAP Court. He was ordered held at a youth detention facility pending future appearances in Seneca County Superior Court’s Youth Part. Orders of protection were also issued.

The latest arrest follows the July 12 arrest of 18-year-old Terrelle Freeman of Waterloo, who was also charged with first-degree assault in the case. Freeman was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant and remains held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.

The investigation began after officers responded to a report of a juvenile who had been stabbed during an altercation on July 7th in the area of Canal and Center streets. The victim was transported by North Seneca Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital, where they underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries. Police have since said the victim’s condition stabilized.

Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the stabbing. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
