A Seneca Falls veterinary clinic is urging residents to remain vigilant after a client reported being followed to the business by a stranger.

In a social media post Tuesday, the Seneca Falls Veterinary Clinic said a client told staff she was followed from the Byrne Dairy convenience store in Seneca Falls to the clinic by an unknown individual. The clinic said the client became concerned when the person allegedly approached her vehicle after parking in the clinic’s employee parking area.

According to the clinic, staff contacted the Seneca Falls Police Department and provided officers with the individual’s license plate information, along with photos and video from the incident.

The clinic said police advised that the individual is from the Rochester area and is not known to local law enforcement.

While emphasizing that it does not know what led up to the encounter or whether any criminal activity occurred, the clinic said it decided to share surveillance video in the interest of public safety.

“We obviously don’t know the details surrounding the encounter, but we felt the need to share the clip with our community,” the clinic wrote. “This may have been an innocent encounter, but we felt it was appropriate to err on the side of caution and let law enforcement handle it.”

The clinic added that the client was shaken enough by the incident to alert staff members upon arriving at the business.

Anyone with information about the individual or who may have experienced a similar encounter is asked to contact the Seneca Falls Police Department.

Police have not announced any charges or indicated that a crime has occurred. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
