A Brockport man has been arrested following an investigation into a threatening social media post targeting the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District.
According to the Palmyra Police Department, officers were alerted on Tuesday to a post circulating online that showed a firearm pointed toward the front of the school along with a threatening message. Police say they worked with administrators at Palmyra-Macedon High School to immediately activate the district’s emergency safety plan while identifying the individual responsible.
Authorities identified the suspect as 18-year-old Douglas Adams, a former student of the district who was reportedly on campus at the time the post was made.
Following the investigation, Adams was taken into custody in Monroe County by Palmyra police after a warrant was issued. He was transported to the Palmyra Police Department for processing before being taken to the Wayne County Jail.
Adams is charged with making a terroristic threat, a Class D felony, and aggravated threat of mass harm, a Class A misdemeanor. He was scheduled for centralized arraignment on April 1 at 6 p.m. and is expected to appear in Palmyra Village Court at a later date.
Police said only a limited number of students were on campus at the time of the incident and no one was in direct danger. Investigators also determined that the firearm shown in the post was non-operational.
The Palmyra Police Department credited the Palmyra-Macedon School District for its cooperation and swift response, noting the coordinated effort helped ensure the safety of students, staff, and the broader community.
