The Auburn Police and Fire Departments will once again take the field this weekend for a good cause.
The eighth annual Chloe Calhoun Memorial Scholarship Charity Softball Game will be played Saturday evening at 6:30 at Falcon Park.
The game honors Chloe Calhoun, a 2016 Auburn High School graduate and varsity softball captain who was killed by a drunk driver in 2016, just weeks before she was set to begin college. The scholarship fund established in her memory awards two Auburn High School seniors $2,200 each year, reflecting Chloe’s jersey number 22.
Since the charity game began in 2018, organizers say it has raised nearly $20,000 for the scholarship fund, with last year’s event drawing nearly 1,300 attendees.
