An inmate at the Wayne County Jail faces new charges after allegedly injuring a corrections sergeant during a fight inside the facility.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports that 46-year-old Jessie Adams was charged Tuesday with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

According to investigators, Adams was incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail on unrelated charges when a fight broke out inside the jail. Authorities allege Adams caused injuries to a Wayne County corrections sergeant who was attempting to intervene and stop the altercation.

Adams was arrested and arraigned in Lyons Town Court. He was remanded to the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections without bail.

He is scheduled to return to Lyons Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
