E-Bike Rider Airlifted Following Crash in Auburn

An e-bike rider was airlifted to a Syracuse hospital after crashing into a parked vehicle Tuesday evening in Auburn.

According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of East Genesee Street and Marvin Avenue at approximately 7:17 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Police said a man in his 60s was traveling westbound on East Genesee Street on an e-bike when he collided with the rear of an unattended vehicle parked along the north side of the street.

The impact ejected the rider from the e-bike. He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the full extent of the man’s injuries was not immediately known. His identity has not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
