Motorists and residents in Geneva should prepare for temporary road closures and driveway access restrictions as paving work begins on a section of Castle Street this week.

The City of Geneva announced that, as part of the Castle Street Capital Improvements Project, Villager Construction will begin paving operations on Castle Street between Brook Street and Pulteney Street.

Preparatory work involving temporary driveway removals is scheduled to begin Wednesday morning. Paving operations are expected to take place Thursday and Friday.

Beginning at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Castle Street in the project area will be closed and affected driveways will not be accessible until paving work is completed. Residents are being asked to make alternate parking arrangements during that time. City officials said special needs or access concerns can be coordinated directly with Villager Construction staff.

The project will also affect traffic throughout the area. Eastbound and westbound traffic on Castle Street will be closed between Pulteney Street and Hillcrest Avenue during the workday. Intersecting streets, including Pulteney Street, West Avenue, Oak Street, Maxwell Avenue and Brook Street, will remain open to local traffic only.

City officials noted that all work schedules are weather dependent and may change due to unforeseen conditions.

The city is encouraging residents and motorists to use caution in the area and thanked the public for its patience as the improvements are completed.

Questions about the project can be directed to the City of Geneva Department of Public Works Engineering Department at 315-789-3101 or by email at [email protected].
