As temperatures climbed to near 100 degrees on Wednesday, firefighters across the Finger Lakes responded to three major house fires.
At 1:30 a.m., Newark fire units responded to a trailer fire on Mobile Drive. The trailer was heavily damaged. No injuries were reported.
A home in Scipio was destroyed in a late morning fire that required crews from 10 fire departments to bring under control. According to The Citizen, the person living in the home on Route 34B escaped safely. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
Just after 3:30 p.m., firefighters from Wayne, Ontario and Yates counties were called to a house fire on Prospect Street in Newark. Multiple departments responded to assist in battling the blaze. Details on the extent of the damage, any injuries and the cause of the fire have not yet been released.
