Steuben County officials are inviting the public to celebrate Independence Day by taking part in a live reading of the nation’s founding documents.
The event will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Charters of Freedom Monument in Pulteney Square in Bath.
Steuben County Historian Griffin Bates will open the ceremony with remarks highlighting local history. Following the introduction, County Manager Jack Wheeler and Steuben County Legislature Chair Kelly Fitzpatrick will read the Declaration of Independence, the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
The event is free and open to the public.
County officials encourage residents to bring their families and join the community in reflecting on the documents that helped shape the United States while celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary.
