The Schuyler County Historical Society will continue its “Celebrate America 250! Talkin’ History!” lecture series Tuesday evening with a presentation exploring the experiences of Revolutionary War prisoners and veterans.

Schuyler County Historian Dr. Gary Emerson will present “Revolutionary Veterans & Prison Ships”  beginning at 6 p.m. at the Watkins Glen Elementary School Auditorium on Decatur Street.

The presentation will examine the harsh conditions aboard British prison ships during the American Revolution and highlight the story of one survivor who later settled in Schuyler County following the war.

The event is free and open to the public, and organizers encourage community members to attend and bring guests.

The program is presented by the America 250 Commission in partnership with the Schuyler County Historical Society and the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce as part of New York’s commemoration of the nation’s 250th anniversary.
