Geneva Public Library Executive Director Frank Sykes has announced his resignation.
In a letter to the library community, Sykes said his final day will be Friday. He did not provide a reason for his departure or disclose his plans.
“Serving this remarkable library and this extraordinary community has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Sykes wrote. “From the very beginning, I was welcomed with kindness, encouragement, and a shared belief in the power of libraries to enrich lives.”
Sykes said he is proud of the library’s work to strengthen community partnerships, expand programs and services, enhance its collections and create new learning and social opportunities for people of all ages.
He credited the library’s employees, Board of Trustees, volunteers and community supporters with making those accomplishments possible.
“Your dedication, compassion, creativity, and unwavering commitment to serving others have inspired me every single day,” Sykes wrote. “It has been an honor to work alongside such talented and caring individuals.”
The library has not yet announced plans for interim leadership or a search for Sykes’ successor.
