The Geneva man looking to replace Claudia Tenney as the Republican nominee for New York’s 24th Congressional District says he’s building a “war chest” to take on the incumbent.
Mario Fratto said he has nearly half a million dollars cash on hand, including $472,474 in his campaign committee, $10,535 in his Leadership PAC, and $671 in his Victory Fund account. That figure represents five times more than the $100,000 he spent in the last campaign.
According to Fratto, Tenney has $650,000 cash on hand, putting the two on nearly equal footing financially.
“Our campaign is gaining the financial resources we need to win. Last election, we lost by a few thousand votes despite being outspent ten-to-one. This year, we’ll be on a much more even footing with Claudia and we will be better able to expose her record as a RINO Republican who would sabotage President Trump’s agenda just like she did when he was previously in office,” Fratto said in a statement.
Fratto is challenging Tenney to a rematch of the 2022 primary where he received 40% of the vote.
The 24th Congressional District stretches from Niagara County to Oswego County, covering most of the Finger Lakes; however, due to redistricting, the southern half of Cayuga County is no longer in the 24th, instead joining the 22nd.
The Republican primary will be on June 25.
