35 years of dedication to his community have earned a Fingerlakes fire chief recognition from the Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY).
FASNY announced that Chief Corey Rooker of the Port Byron Fire Department has been awarded the 2026 Fire Service Community Achievement Award for a career marked by leadership, service, and commitment to safety.
FASNY said Rooker’s leadership style is hands-on and that the EMT and interior firefighter “is known for prioritizing member safety while maintaining a dependable emergency response.”
Aside from his service to the fire department, Rooker is also active in the community, where he serves as Chief Emergency Officer, Transportation Supervisor, Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor, and Fitness Center Manager within the Port Byron Central School District. He also serves as an Intelligence Liaison Officer with the Cayuga County Emergency Management Office.
