A Cicero man has been ticketed following a two-vehicle crash that killed his 96-year-old passenger earlier this month in the Town of Seneca.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said 65-year-old Bruce Eric Peterson was issued a citation on Wednesday for failing to stop at a stop sign. The passenger who died in the July 5 crash was identified as Joan Peterson of Fayetteville.
The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. at the intersection of Kashong Switch and Wabash roads.
Investigators said Bruce Peterson was driving a Subaru west on Kashong Switch Road when it collided with a Volkswagen Jetta traveling south on Wabash Road. The Jetta was driven by 41-year-old Christopher Hughes of Farmington.
Joan Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. Bruce Peterson was taken by Stanley-Hall-Gorham Ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital with facial and back injuries.
Hughes was evaluated at the scene and did not require additional medical treatment.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigation Division investigated the crash. The intersection was closed for approximately three hours.
Bruce Peterson is scheduled to answer the traffic citation in Seneca Town Court at a later date.
