A vehicle crashed into a home in Ithaca late Wednesday morning after its driver swerved to avoid another motorist who allegedly failed to yield at an intersection.
According to the Ithaca Police Department, officers responded just after 11 to the intersection of Plain and Clinton streets for a property damage crash involving a vehicle that had struck a residence.
Police said the preliminary investigation determined the driver was traveling east on Clinton Street with the right of way when another vehicle failed to yield at the intersection. The driver took evasive action to avoid a collision, lost control of the vehicle, drove over the sidewalk at the southeast corner of Clinton and Plain streets, and crashed into a home on the corner.
The residence was unoccupied at the time of the crash, and police said only minimal damage was caused to the exterior of the building.
No injuries were reported to anyone involved in the incident.
The intersection was reduced to one lane for about an hour while emergency crews responded and cleared the scene.
