Four Seneca Falls Museums Host Homeschool Days in September

Community News Release

Four Seneca Falls museums will host “Homeschool Days” on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10, offering programs for children ages 8-14.

The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, is a collaboration between the Seneca Museum & Tourism Center, the Women’s Rights National Historical Park, the National Women’s Hall of Fame, and the Seneca Falls Historical Society. Registration is free and opens Aug. 1, closing Sept. 1. Each day is limited to 40 participants, including children and their guardians, and the program content is identical, so participants should register for only one date.

Each day begins at the Seneca Museum & Tourism Center for sign-in and an introduction to Seneca Falls’ community development and industries along the Seneca River and Cayuga & Seneca Canal. Participants will then visit the Women’s Rights National Historical Park to explore the first women’s rights convention, held at the park’s Wesleyan Chapel in July 1848.

Following a one-hour lunch break, attendees will visit the Seneca Falls Historical Society’s Becker Mansion to learn about the Gilded Age and the 1923 women’s rights convention. The day concludes at the National Women’s Hall of Fame, where participants will explore stories of women throughout history.
