Moth Black-lighting Event Invites Public to Seneca Meadows Preserve

Community News Release

Jason Dombroskie and Molly Jacobson will host a free “Moth Black-lighting” event on July 18 at the Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve in Seneca Falls.

The event is free, but space is limited, and registration is required. Interested individuals can register online at https://act.audubon.org/a/mb71826. The program is sponsored by Seneca Meadows, Inc.

The Seneca Meadows Wetland Preserve is a 576-acre area featuring wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands with seven miles of trails. When the preserve was created, mitigation efforts by Seneca Meadows Inc. involved planting native plants, removing invasive species, adding six ponds, and forming three distinct habitats.

The preserve partners with the Montezuma Audubon Center and Audubon NY to offer hands-on, experience-based learning opportunities for community members and organizations, aiming to restore its value as an Important Bird Area.
