University of Rochester Medicine Finger Lakes Health Rehabilitation Services will offer its free Community Mobility Screening Program for adults 65 and older on Thursday, July 16, in Penn Yan and Geneva.

The program checks balance, strength, and fall risk. Screenings will take place at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, located at 418 North Main Street in Penn Yan, and at the Garnsey Outpatient Rehabilitation Center at Geneva General Hospital, 196 North Street in Geneva.

Participants will have their scores measured on evidence-based tests designed to predict fall risk and identify strength deficits and balance issues compared to their peers. The goal of Finger Lakes Health Rehabilitation Services is to help maintain the independence of older adults in the community.

The free screening takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. It is offered on the third Thursday of each month in the rehabilitation department at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital and at the Garnsey Outpatient Rehabilitation Center.

Spots for the screening are limited, and registration at least one week prior is requested. To schedule a screening, call 315-787-4570 for Geneva or 315-531-2577 for Penn Yan, or register online at www.flhealth.org.
