CORTLAND | Ralph C. Hawley, 96, of Cortland, died Oct. 30, 2012, at Crown Center Nursing Home. Born in Weedsport, he was the son of the late LeRoy and Marjorie Coffin Hawley. Ralph was a graduate of Weedsport High School and was a World War II Army veteran. He retired in 1978 from NYS Electric & Gas, where he worked for many years as a lineman. He owned his own tree business and enjoyed hunting in his earlier years. Ralph was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Clarice Austin Hawley; seven daughters, Linda (George) Colburn, Terri (Bill) Stamp, Dritha (Doug) Hunneyman, Barbara (Jim) Carpenter, Nancy Mosher, Laraine (Steve) Clark and Robin (Tim) Droppa; a brother, Gene (Gloria) Hawley; 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Marjorie Nichols Hawley; brother, Harold Hawley and by a sister, Gladys Hartwell. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m., at Second Baptist Church, Auburn. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Gideons, in memory of Ralph. Langham Funeral home is handling arrangements.
