GENEVA - Ronald “Ronnie” Charles Snyder, age 87, of Geneva, NY, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 3, 2026.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., Geneva, NY. Members of the Nester Hose Co. #1 of the Geneva Fire Dept. will meet at 6:30 pm and members of the Knights of Columbus Council #272 will meet at 6:45 pm for a prayer service at the funeral home for their former member.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at St. Stephen’s Church, 48 Pulteney St., Geneva, NY. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Immediately following the Mass, a Celebration of his Life will be held at the Cedar Inn.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be sent to the Geneva High School Athletics Dept.

Ronnie was born on May 12, 1939 in Geneva, NY. He was the second son of the late Paul and Margaret (O’Holleran) Snyder. Ronnie was a lifelong resident of Geneva. He graduated from De Sales High School in 1957 and attended SUNY Brockport where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He taught middle school math in Waterloo for roughly 30 years. He also owned a successful business for over 50 years, The Cedar Inn, a Geneva institution well known and loved by local Notre Dame fans. Besides Notre Dame, Ronnie supported local athletics including but not limited to Geneva High School youth sports and Hobart Lacrosse. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was hardworking, humble, and generous.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Toner, in 1972 and they had three children, Robyn (Michael) Kobasa, Jill (Bobby) Clegg, and Jeff (Shelby Journell) Snyder; six grandchildren, Devin, Lyla, and Ryan Kobasa, Eric Robinson Jr., Robby Johnson Jr., and Ronnie Johnson; and three great-grandchildren, Talia, Emri, and Nataya Robinson.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and David; and his sister, Karen.
