Rain moves in overnight as a fine Father’s Day wraps up

The Father’s Day cookouts that wrapped up under sunny skies this afternoon are about to give way to a very different Monday. The National Weather Service in Buffalo is tracking a vigorous low-pressure system set to push moisture into the region late tonight, with rain likely to arrive between 4 and 7 AM tomorrow and continue through much of the day.

Tonight’s pre-rain window stays pleasant — lows falling to the mid-50s under clearing skies, with light northwest winds and no frost concerns. No NWS alerts are in effect.

The heavier part of Monday’s rain looks to peak through the late morning and early afternoon, particularly around Geneva and Ithaca. Highs tomorrow will be knocked back to the mid-60s — about 10 degrees cooler than today’s pleasant 75°. Deep atmospheric moisture is fueling this system, so expect a genuine soaking rather than scattered light showers.

Drier air returns Tuesday, with highs recovering toward 74°.
