Rain wraps up tonight, fog likely before Tuesday clears out

The last of today’s rain is winding down as I write this — 66° and overcast in Geneva at 6:30, with low pressure tracking from Ohio into Pennsylvania and pulling the steadier precipitation out of the region through the evening hours. A few lingering showers remain possible before midnight, followed by mist and drizzle through at least the first half of the night as low-level moisture hangs around.

Overnight lows will settle near 60° across most of the region, with southern-tier locations like Bath and Corning dropping a few degrees cooler into the upper 50s. No frost risk tonight.

Tomorrow brings the fog to watch for. As the low clears and light winds remain easterly, expect MVFR-to-IFR ceilings and reduced visibility through much of Tuesday morning. Canandaigua and the northern valleys are likely candidates for the thickest murk at dawn. By afternoon, conditions improve, and Tuesday afternoon should feel noticeably more comfortable — highs near 74° in Geneva, partly cloudy skies developing Wednesday with a high around 76°.

The next unsettled stretch arrives Thursday, when a weak cold front and returning moisture bring chances for showers and possibly thunderstorms into the weekend.
