Seventy-four degrees and partly cloudy here in Geneva at 6:30 this evening — a fine close to the summer solstice, and probably the last comfortable stretch before things change considerably overnight. Enjoy the evening light while it lasts; the next 12 hours bring a meaningful shift.
Rain is on the way. A vigorous low-pressure system tracking east through the region tonight will push a widespread precipitation shield into the Finger Lakes between 4 and 7 AM Monday. Overnight lows will only dip to the mid-to-upper 50s — no frost concerns tonight — but skies will cloud over steadily after midnight and rain is likely by the early morning hours.
Monday is the day to plan around. The NWS is expecting an 86% precipitation probability across the Geneva area, with a rainy, gray day in store regionwide. Highs on Monday will struggle to reach 66° — a 10-degree drop from today’s readings — as cloud cover and rain keep temperatures suppressed. Some embedded thunder remains possible, particularly during the morning and midday hours.
The good news: Tuesday clears out quickly. Expect drying conditions and a return to the low-to-mid 70s by Wednesday, with another chance of light showers arriving by Thursday.
