Weather forecast for the Finger Lakes: Rain Returns Tonight Before Memorial Day Clears

Enjoy what’s left of Sunday evening — rain is on the way. A southern stream shortwave tracking out of the Ohio Valley is set to partially merge with a northern trough crossing the Great Lakes, and that combination will drive a widespread period of rain into the Finger Lakes tonight. Expect showers to develop across western portions of the region early this evening, spreading east through Canandaigua, Penn Yan, and Watkins Glen by late evening. Lows will settle into the upper 40s to near 50°, with Bath dipping to around 48°. No frost concerns tonight with clouds and humidity holding temperatures up.

The good news: Memorial Day looks far better. Rain exits from west to east through early Monday morning, leaving improving conditions behind. Expect a clearing, seasonable afternoon with temperatures likely recovering into the low-to-mid 60s. Tuesday and Wednesday turn noticeably warmer, though a few scattered showers or storms are possible midweek. Thursday through the weekend looks mainly dry.
