Skies are clear and temperatures are dropping fast across the region this evening, with northwest winds running 11–13 mph keeping the air dry and crisp. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 30s for Watkins Glen and Corning, with Penn Yan and Bath touching the mid-30s — cold enough that gardeners with tender plantings may want to cover up tonight, even without a formal frost advisory in place.
Sunday brings a notable change. A warm front lifting northeast across the eastern Great Lakes will push clouds in through the afternoon, with rain showers developing by evening. The Finger Lakes sits on the southern fringe of the best shower coverage — most of the heavier activity will stay north toward the Lake Ontario shoreline — but don’t put the umbrella away entirely.
Beyond Sunday, expect a warmer but unsettled work week, with multiple rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms possible as a frontal zone wobbles back and forth across the region.
