Rain, Wind, and a Sharp Temperature Drop Hit the Finger Lakes

Weather forecast for the Finger Lakes: Rain, Wind, and a Sharp Temperature Drop Hit the Finger Lakes

If it felt like the warmth evaporated quickly today, that’s because it did. Temperatures peaked in the low-to-mid 60s — Canandaigua touching 66° — before a deep trough dragged much colder air in from the west. By early afternoon, readings had already fallen into the low-to-mid 40s region-wide, with westerly winds gusting to 25 mph making it feel rawer than the numbers suggest.

Rain is now the main story for the rest of the afternoon and evening, with the heavier coverage favoring upslope terrain across the southern tier near Corning and Bath. No NWS alerts are active, but conditions will deteriorate overnight. Expect Monday to bring wet snow showers and highs near 39°, with a more significant snow chance Monday night into Tuesday as lows drop to the upper 20s. A recovery to the 50s arrives Wednesday.
