Six Keuka College Men’s Basketball Players Earn NABC Honors

Six members of the Keuka College men’s basketball team have been recognized for their success in the classroom, earning spots on the 2025-26 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.

Honored by the NABC were Akinlana Popoola, Brennan Hopkins, Chase Welch, Kevin Felasco, Marcus Reed, and Ty LaBarge. In addition to the individual honors, the Wolves received the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award after posting a 3.08 team grade point average during the 2025-26 academic year.

LaBarge, a sport management major, played in 27 games off the bench during his third season with the Wolves. He earned the Empire 8 Torchbearer Award following Keuka’s conference championship victory over SUNY Brockport, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating in the championship game. He finished the year with a 3.88 GPA.

Graduate student Kevin Felasco appeared in 25 games, making seven starts in his first season with the Wolves. Pursuing a master’s degree in leadership, he compiled a 3.97 cumulative GPA.

Popoola, a senior marketing major and team captain, started 25 games at point guard and ranked second on the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game while adding 50 assists. He earned Third Team All-Empire 8 honors and was named an honorable mention by the United States Basketball Writers Association. He completed the academic year with a 3.47 GPA.

After missing the previous season with an injury, Welch returned to play an important reserve role, averaging 15 minutes per game. The sport management major finished with a 3.31 GPA.

Reed, a management major, appeared in 26 games with four starts during his senior season. He shot 63 percent from the field and 67 percent from three-point range while recording a season-high 15 points against St. John Fisher. He graduated with a 3.31 GPA.

Hopkins completed his third season with the Wolves, appearing in 18 games off the bench. He turned in a career-best performance against RIT, posting personal highs of 10 points and five rebounds.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes men’s basketball programs that finish the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher, while the NABC Honors Court recognizes junior, senior, and graduate student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
