Five members of the William Smith College hockey team have been recognized for their success in the classroom, earning 2025-26 Krampade All-American Scholar honors from the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

The Herons were among 444 NCAA Division II and Division III student-athletes nationwide to receive the academic distinction.

To qualify, players must maintain at least a 3.75 grade point average during each semester and compete in at least 40% of their team’s games. Exceptions are made for injured players and backup goaltenders.

William Smith’s honorees are:

  • Julia Chase, a junior majoring in Business Management & Entrepreneurship
  • Fiona Gallagher, a senior majoring in Writing & Rhetoric and History
  • Kelly Howe, a senior majoring in International Relations
  • Mia Iwicki, a junior majoring in Physics
  • Seneca Urban, a senior majoring in Sociology

Gallagher earned the award for the third time in her career after previously being recognized in 2023 and 2025. Chase and Howe each received the honor for the second consecutive year.

Since 2017, William Smith hockey players have collected 58 AHCA All-American Scholar awards.

The Herons finished the 2025-26 season with a 12-15 overall record and a 7-7 mark in their first season competing in the SUNYAC. William Smith placed fourth in the conference standings and advanced to the SUNYAC Tournament semifinals before falling to eventual conference champion Plattsburgh.
