The Hobart lacrosse team has been recognized for its success in the classroom, earning the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Team Academic Award for 2026. The Statesmen also placed two student-athletes on the USILA Scholar All-America Team.

To qualify for the Team Academic Award, programs must post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. Hobart was one of 45 Division I teams to receive the honor and one of six Atlantic 10 Conference programs recognized.

Senior attackman David Peterkin and defensive midfielder Julian Race were both named USILA Scholar All-Americans, an honor awarded to senior student-athletes who maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher while excelling on the field.

Peterkin was previously named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and the A-10 All-Academic Team after leading the Statesmen with 17 goals, 20 assists and 37 points this season. He posted five-point performances against UAlbany, Le Moyne and UMass and finished his career with at least one point in each of his final 17 games.

Over 52 career games, Peterkin totaled 54 goals and 45 assists for 99 points. He ranks 15th in career assists and 20th in career points among Hobart’s Division I players. Peterkin graduated in May with dual degrees in business management and entrepreneurship and economics.

Race also earned a spot on the A-10 All-Academic Team this season. He appeared in all 13 games, recording 24 ground balls and five caused turnovers. He capped his collegiate career with a personal-best five ground balls in Hobart’s 13-12 victory over St. Bonaventure.

In 47 career games, Race recorded 54 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and four assists. He earned a master’s degree in management in May after completing his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2025.

Since the USILA Scholar All-America program began honoring Hobart players in 1989, 15 Statesmen have earned the distinction.
