A New York State court officer assigned to the Oneida County Supreme Court has been charged following an investigation into allegations that he secretly took intimate photographs of a woman without her consent.
According to New York State Police, 38-year-old James Madera of Waterville was arrested July 10 after investigators determined he allegedly took intimate photographs of an adult female without her knowledge or permission.
Madera has been charged with Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree, a Class E felony.
State Police said Madera is employed as a New York State court officer with the Oneida County Supreme Court. Authorities emphasized there are no allegations that the alleged conduct occurred while he was on duty or in connection with his employment.
Madera was arraigned in Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court and released on his own recognizance.
A full stay-away order of protection has been issued on behalf of the alleged victim.
Madera is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
