A Victor woman faces multiple charges after Yates County Sheriff’s deputies said she was found driving while intoxicated in the Village of Penn Yan on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle on Liberty Street at approximately 4:23 p.m. after observing erratic driving behavior.

During the traffic stop, deputies identified the driver as 65-year-old Suzanne Ritter. Investigators said Ritter displayed several signs of intoxication, prompting a driving while intoxicated investigation that resulted in her arrest.

Deputies also determined that Ritter was operating the vehicle while her driver’s license and vehicle registration were suspended. Authorities further alleged that the vehicle was uninsured.

Ritter was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWI Per Se, moving from a lane unsafely, following too closely, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without insurance, and operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked registration.

She was transported to the Yates County Jail for processing and later released with traffic tickets. Ritter is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
