A Sodus Point man has been arrested months after a three-vehicle crash in the Village of Sodus Point that happened in February.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Paul Mcnett, was charged on Monday following an investigation into the Feb. 1 crash on State Route 14.
Mcnett was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, felony driving while intoxicated, moved from lane unsafely, speed not reasonable and prudent, and unsafe backing.
Deputies said they responded around 4:13 p.m. to a reported three-car property damage crash and found one vehicle stuck in the snow after colliding with a post, along with two additional vehicles that had rear-end damage.
Investigators said Mcnett was standing near the vehicles when deputies arrived and admitted to operating two of the three vehicles involved in the crash.
Deputies reported detecting the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mcnett’s breath and requested that he complete standardized field sobriety tests, which he allegedly refused.
Mcnett was arrested and taken to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, where authorities said he submitted to a chemical blood test that showed a blood alcohol content of .21%.
Following the return of the blood test results, Mcnett was taken to the Wayne County Jail and later released on appearance tickets.
He is scheduled to appear in Town of Sodus Court at a later date to answer the charges.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
