A Victor man faces child endangerment charges after allegedly leaving two young children unattended inside a vehicle in Canandaigua late last month.

On Friday, May 22, officers with the Canandaigua Police Department responded to South Main Street following a report of unsupervised children in a car. Investigators determined that 36-year-old Joel Rivera-Lourido had allegedly left a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old child inside his vehicle for approximately 45 minutes while he shopped at a nearby business.

Following Rivera-Lourido’s arrest, the children were turned over to the custody of their mother.

Rivera-Lourido was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in the City of Canandaigua Court at a later date.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
