On Tuesday, the Yates County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential disturbance on Pineview Drive in the Town of Jerusalem.

An investigation revealed that Theodore Courtney, 33, was allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with another male. During the course of the altercation, after physically disengaging, Courtney, who lives in Penn Yan, retrieved a handgun and a rifle from his residence. He is accused of then discharging both firearms in the direction of the other male.

Courtney was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm. He was transported to the Yates County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court.

Authorities noted that additional charges are pending.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
