A Farmington man and a Palmyra woman face multiple charges, including resisting arrest, following a disturbance on Lakeshore Drive late last month.
On May 24, officers with the Canandaigua Police Department responded to the scene and made contact with 35-year-old William Cole of Farmington. According to authorities, Cole appeared to be intoxicated and made suicidal remarks. When officers attempted to place him under a mental health arrest for his safety, he allegedly resisted their efforts. Once secured in handcuffs and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle, Cole reportedly began kicking the door, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. He was subsequently hit with an additional charge of third-degree criminal mischief.
While officers were dealing with Cole, 35-year-old Hillary Hinckley of Palmyra allegedly slammed a car door on an officer’s arm. When officers attempted to place her under arrest for second-degree harassment, Hinckley also allegedly resisted.
Both Cole and Hinckley were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges in the City of Canandaigua Court at a later date.
