Elijah Tretts, 40, of North Collins, was charged with criminal impersonation in the first degree, entering or remaining on premises after hours, and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle by Penn Yan Police following a complaint at a local park.

Tretts was a passenger in a vehicle parked at Red Jacket Park after closing. He allegedly provided officers with a fake name, address, and date of birth, and claimed to be a member of the New York State Police. He then allegedly became uncooperative. Police discovered his true identity and that he was not a member of any law enforcement agency.

Tretts was transported to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
