On Thursday, emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of State Route 247 and Lake to Lake Road in the Town of Gorham.

At approximately 6:52 p.m., the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a crash with a possible ejection. A subsequent investigation determined that Edward Skinner, 52, of Canandaigua, was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Lake to Lake Road. Skinner stopped at the stop sign but then allegedly proceeded through the intersection, where he collided with Steven Snyder, 31, of Rushville, who was driving a Kia Soul southbound on State Route 247.

Skinner was ejected from the motorcycle and flown via Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to his left leg. Snyder was evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene but declined further medical assistance.

As a result of the crash, Skinner was issued a uniform traffic ticket for allegedly failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. Snyder was also issued a uniform traffic ticket for allegedly driving on a revoked driver’s license. The roadway was shut down for a period of time while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Mercy Flight, Canandaigua Ambulance, Middlesex Ambulance, Rushville Fire Department, and the Gorham Fire Department.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
