Auburn Man Arrested on Felony Robbery Charge

On Monday morning, Auburn police officers responded to an address in the City of Auburn for a reported domestic incident involving injuries.

Upon investigation, authorities learned that 26-year-old Christopher Barnwell had allegedly forcefully taken a cell phone from a victim and struck them in the head during the encounter. The victim was transported to Auburn Community Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries.

Officers later located Barnwell in Auburn and took him into custody without further incident. He was charged with Robbery in the Third Degree, Aggravated Family Offense, both felonies, and Attempted Assault in the Third Degree.

Following his arrest, Barnwell was transported to the Cayuga County Jail, where he was held pending his arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
