Two Men Hospitalized After Hopewell Crash

Brightly lit emergency entrance of a modern hospital at dusk, with a red 'EMERGENCY' sign and patient parking directions.

Two drivers were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning in the Town of Hopewell.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the intersection of County Road 4 and Freshour Road at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Investigators said a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Glenn Owen of Naples was traveling north on Freshour Road when it failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by 30-year-old Matthew Klestinec of Geneva.

Owen’s vehicle rolled onto its roof and came to rest near the southwest corner of the intersection. Klestinec’s vehicle overturned before landing upright on a nearby lawn.

Both drivers were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Klestinec suffered serious injuries but was listed in stable condition. Owen was also listed in stable condition.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene. The intersection was closed for approximately three-and-a-half hours while deputies reconstructed the crash.

The Hopewell Fire Department, Mercy Flight and Mercy Ambulance assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
