A Johnson City man has been charged following an investigation into a reported arson and vandalism incident at a self-service car wash in Endicott.
According to New York State Police, 39-year-old Joshua Skobern was arrested on April 14 by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Endwell.
Troopers say the charges stem from an incident reported on April 13 at the Enviro Auto Wash on Watson Boulevard, where damage was discovered to a payment kiosk that occurred the previous day.
Investigators allege that around 8:34 a.m. on April 12, Skobern was inside one of the car wash bays when he punched the payment kiosk, struck it with a spray wand, and then used a lighter to burn the faceplate, causing damage.
Skobern was located at his residence the following day, taken into custody, and transported to State Police barracks in Endwell for processing.
He has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a Class E felony, and fifth-degree arson, a misdemeanor.
