Residents along Seneca Lake are being urged to report shoreline damage as high water levels and ongoing wave action continue to threaten properties across the region.
Officials say elevated lake levels, combined with persistent wind-driven waves, have increased the risk of shoreline erosion and damage to docks and other waterfront structures.
The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services has offered to begin damage inspections as soon as Wednesday, but local officials say they need addresses from impacted property owners immediately in order to coordinate assessments.
Residents whose properties have been affected are asked to provide their address, a brief description of the damage, and photos if possible to their county emergency management office while also copying the Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association.
Damage reports can be submitted to:
- Schuyler County: [email protected]
- Ontario County: [email protected]
- Seneca County: [email protected]
- Yates County: [email protected]
Residents are also asked to copy [email protected] on submissions.
Officials say the information will help support coordination with state agencies and ensure impacted areas are reviewed as quickly as possible. They stress that timely reporting is critical to bringing assistance and resources to the region.
