Seneca Falls Police Put Faces on the Line for Dog Food Drive

Stacked red, blue, green, and white bags of Diamond Naturals dog food for a community support drive.

The Seneca Falls Police Department is asking the community to help feed rescue dogs, and in return, residents could get the chance to put a pie in an officer’s face.

The department has launched a dog food drive to benefit Fetch A Friend Rescue, which is currently in need of food for the dogs in its care. Donations of Diamond Naturals Dog Food are being accepted now through Aug. 6 at the Seneca Falls Police Department.

The challenge comes with a sweet incentive.

For every bag of food donated, contributors will receive one entry into a drawing for the chance to pie a Seneca Falls police officer during the community’s National Night Out celebration.

And if the community really steps up, things could get even messier.

Police have set a goal of collecting 50 bags of dog food. But if donations reach 100 bags, the entire department has agreed to take a pie to the face at National Night Out.

The department announced the fundraiser with its trademark sense of humor, saying that when there’s a call for help, officers are always ready to jump in — especially when it helps four-legged friends.

Residents can drop off donations Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the police department. Officials note that only Diamond Naturals Dog Food is being accepted because it is the specific brand needed by the rescue organization.

The food can be purchased locally at CountryMax and Tractor Supply, as well as through online retailers Amazon and Chewy.

Whether the community reaches 50 bags or 100, one thing is certain: local rescue dogs will get the food they need, and at least a few officers will be cleaning whipped cream out of their uniforms.

Now the question is simple: How many pies will be flying on National Night Out?
