The Seneca Falls Museum & Tourism Center will continue its “25 in 250” Speaker Series this weekend with a presentation exploring the history of the equal rights movement in the Finger Lakes.
The program, “Equal Rights in the Finger Lakes,” will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Seneca Falls Museum & Tourism Center, 89 Fall Street.
The presentation will be led by Kate Grindstaff, Visitor Experience Manager at the New York State Equal Rights Heritage Center in Auburn.
Grindstaff will examine the history of the equal rights movement throughout Auburn and the Finger Lakes, highlighting the people and events that have shaped the region over the past 250 years. Topics will include the abolition movement, women’s rights, civil rights, labor rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and Indigenous rights, as well as the local landmarks connected to those movements.
The program is part of the museum’s “25 in 250” Speaker Series, which commemorates the nation’s upcoming semiquincentennial by exploring the region’s role in American history.
The event is sponsored by the Bonafiglia Family Foundation.
