A road construction project on State Route 21 in the Town of South Bristol is expected to take longer than originally planned.
In an update posted by the town, officials said ongoing culvert replacement work has encountered unforeseen challenges related to the steep slopes surrounding the project area. As a result, retaining walls will require more extensive work than engineers initially anticipated.
Town officials said the delay means the project timeline will need to be adjusted.
The New York State Department of Transportation is working with project engineers to evaluate the additional work and determine a revised completion schedule. An updated timeline is expected to be available next week.
No additional details on the length of the delay were immediately available.
